Job Description

This position will serve as an Information Receptionist at the VA Medical Center located in Battle Creek, MI. The Information Receptionist works independently, is self-directed, and has the knowledge and skills necessary for the operations of lodging patients on a given tour. To qualify for this position at the GS-4 grade level, you must meet one of the following criteria: Experience: I possess at least one full year of general experience performing progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled. NOTE: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hours worked per week. A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Substitution of education for experience: I have successfully completed two years of education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. NOTE: Transcripts (unofficial or official) must be submitted with your application materials. Education cannot be credited without documentation. Combination of experience and education: I have equivalent combinations of successfully completed post-high school education and experience, as described above, which meet the total qualification requirements for this grade level. Typically, the work is sedentary but also requires some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items such as papers, books, linen, patient's personal belongings, et cetera. Physical demands required, the ability to lift up to 40 pounds, and able to push linen carts, wheelchairs, and other wheeled items.
