About Interact Clinical
\nInteract Clinical is developing its clinical research facility in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Our initial focus includes nicotine and tobacco product research, pharmacokinetic studies and related clinical assessments involving adult participants. Additionally, we conduct research on medical devices seeking regulatory approval in the US.
\n \nWe are seeking a Clinical Research Physician to provide participant care and medical oversight, working closely with our clinical project manager, research staff and scientific team. This is an opportunity to help establish the clinical service and develop investigator experience as the business grows.
\n \nThe role
\nYou will conduct study-related medical assessments, oversee participant safety and contribute to the planning and delivery of clinical studies. Appointment as a Sub-Investigator or Principal Investigator will depend on your qualifications, experience and the requirements of each study.
\n \nKey responsibilities
\n• Assess participants through medical histories, physical examinations and review of medications, laboratory results, vital signs and ECGs where required.
\n• Confirm medical eligibility and fitness for dosing and continued participation.
\n• Support informed consent discussions and ensure participants understand study procedures and risks.
\n• Provide on-site medical cover during dosing and other study activities requiring physician attendance.
\n• Identify, assess and manage adverse events, arrange appropriate follow-up and complete required safety documentation.
\n• Review protocols and study procedures for clinical feasibility, participant safety and appropriate medical monitoring.
\n• Maintain accurate, timely clinical records and respond to medical data queries.
\n• Work within approved protocols, documented delegation, Good Clinical Practice and applicable regulatory and IRB requirements.
\n• Contribute to clinical procedures, staff training, emergency preparedness and quality improvement.
\n• Participate in sponsor discussions, monitoring visits, audits and inspections as appropriate.
\n \nQualifications and experience
\nEssential
\n• MD, DO or equivalent medical qualification recognised for physician licensure in North Carolina.
\n• Completed residency training in family medicine, internal medicine or another relevant specialty.
\n• Active, unrestricted North Carolina medical licence, or eligibility to obtain one before starting clinical duties.
\n• Strong adult clinical assessment skills and competence in recognising and managing acute medical events.
\n• Clear communication, sound clinical judgement and accurate medical documentation.
\n• Willingness to complete Good Clinical Practice, human participant protection and study-specific training.
\n• Ability to work on-site in Winston-Salem and meet agreed study schedules.
\n• Willingness to work on nicotine and tobacco product studies.
\n \nDesirable
\n• Board certification or board eligibility in a relevant specialty.
\n• Previous clinical research, Sub-Investigator or Principal Investigator experience.
\n• Experience in pharmacokinetic studies, healthy volunteer research or nicotine and tobacco research.
\n• Familiarity with electronic clinical records, clinical trial data systems and sponsor monitoring.
\nPhysicians moving into clinical research are welcome to apply. The scope of investigator responsibilities will reflect demonstrated experience and the oversight arrangements established for each study.
\n \nSalary and development
\nThe annual base salary is $200,000–$220,000, depending on qualifications and experience. The benefits package and any study-related on-call or extended-hours requirements will be discussed during the recruitment process.
\n \nThe role offers scope to develop investigator responsibilities and progress towards medical leadership as experience and the clinical service grow.
\n \nHow to apply
